New Year. New Beginnings.Time for Gratitude

Happy New Year!!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. In my books, it’s still ok to say Happy New Year to the end of this month, so you’ll probably be hearing a bit more of that. Bear with me.

I have to admit I have been struggling to get back into the groove after a wonderful holiday season, and I tried a couple of times but it just didn’t bite me. Then one day, I started checking out my idea board and it slowly by slowly started creeping back . It’s funny that even though I struggled to post, I did miss the moments I get to engage. So, glad to be back.

I look forward to a New Year. Not only because it’s a chance to start over again and embrace new beginnings in a sense, it’s like an opportunity to do ‘it’ again, anew. It is also because I am a January baby. It’s significant for me in more ways than one. When setting resolutions as most people do, I take some time and make sure I have mine kinda figured out by my birthday, and even if I don’t, it’s still ok. It’s a great time to be grateful and thankful for the blessing of saying goodbye and embracing yet another year we get to be alive and make a difference.

In the spirit of being grateful for the year that has been, I look back on 2015 and the accomplishments of the year and wanted to share with you:

What I am grateful for……

One of the things I am thankful for was starting the Meruti site/blog. I never thought I would do this. Writing is not my forte but by chugging away at something that was outside my comfort zone, on a subject I am passionate about in tall fashion and home decor , I have also grown. It has been a great growth curve and I am still learning as I trudge along. I continue to learn more and more about what it means to have an online presence for a business. There’s quite a world out there and it’s pretty daunting. It excites me and scares me at the same. I have long learnt that this paradox of feelings for me is a good thing. It pushes me to move forward. The feeling is still in me and truth be told, I hope I always get to feel this way about stuff that matters.

New Relationships:

Thanks to Meruti, I have met some wonderful people and continue to meet them. It’s amazing what the online world opens up to you once you learn more about it. You, dear readers have been a great part of this gift and I thank you.

Good health:

Being able to physically do all that I do and living each day fully, is something I do not take for granted. There were moments in 2015 when my health was put to the test , but I am so glad I came out of it and I am back on the bandwagon.

I thank God for my family, near and far who are my rock in more ways than one. Spending time with them this holiday just made me so thankful that they are in my life. There were great evenings and sights to experience like the one below.

I am also grateful for my husband who, besides being the most amazing guy, has supported me through many sessions of doubt and craziness, gently urging me on and being my biggest cheerleader on this journey. Might I also add, he also helps me figure out the intriguing aspects of managing a website. Priceless.

I am ever so grateful that you are here and can stop by to check out Meruti and just be plain awesome with your support. I am really looking forward to this year and the exciting things we are praying for and hope to see come to fruition. These will be revealed in due course, but will definitely be revolving around home decor ideas in Kenya and around the world, as well as tall fashion and style. As always, we welcome and appreciate your insights, feedback and friendship.

Happy New Year! Put your best foot forward! Salute.
